After a storm, the mountain feels like it had a reboot. Familiar ridgelines and trees are softened beneath fresh snow, the air is clear and, for a short time, everything seems quieter than usual. The drainage ditches are nothing more than a slight fold in the powder.  The storm has passed, leaving behind the conditions every skier spent the previous evening hoping for.

By the end of the day, the untouched snow has been crossed with tracks, legs are tired and the lifts are closing. Looking back across the mountain, it is the transformation left by the storm—and the day it made possible—that stays with you.

That memory is what After the Storm was created to capture. It is the fourth and final piece in The Perfect Ski Day, a series following the moments that make a day on the mountain stay with us.

Only 12 After the Storm signs will be made. Each is CNC-carved from solid North American ash and hand-finished by me in British Columbia. Its individual edition number and a short message are carved directly into the back.

Shipping & Returns

Production begins after receiving your order. Most signs ship within 3–5 business days; larger orders and busy periods may take longer.

All orders are sent using a tracked service. Delivery dates provided by the carrier are estimates and may be affected by customs or other delays beyond my control. Tracking information will be provided when your order ships.

If your order arrives damaged or you have another concern, contact me within 14 days of delivery. Returns must reach me within 30 days of delivery and be in new condition, unless the item arrived damaged.

Dimensions

Sign sizes are shown in the product options above. I work in millimetres in the workshop for accuracy; inch measurements are the closest approximate equivalents.

Care Instructions

All signs are finished with exterior-grade paint and a clear coat on the front and edges. If your sign will be displayed outdoors, choose North American ash and ask me to paint the back as well.

Wipe the sign with a damp cloth and clean up spills promptly. Avoid extreme changes in temperature or humidity, as solid wood can move naturally over time. Some fading and weathering should be expected when any painted wood product is exposed to sunlight and the elements.

    • United States orders: Wood sign shipping to the United States is temporarily paused until tariff and trade conditions become more predictable. Art prints remain available and are produced within the United States.

  • Hassle-Free Exchanges

    • If your order arrives damaged then we will send a replacement provided you notify us within 14 days of receipt. Please note that the natural character traits of wood are not considered damage ... these are wood signs after all. We suggest the maple option if you prefer less in terms of "character".
    • Any non-personalized products can be returned within 30 days for a refund, however you will need to pay for shipping if for any reason other than damage or wrong product and they must arrive back in the original condition.
