Wood Species
The available Wood Choices for most signs are these three:

Best for indoor use. Rustic character with prominent knots and warm grain. Softer wood carves more easily but less precisely for fine details. |
| North American Ash |  |
Can be used outdoors. Durable hardwood with beautiful grain, weather-resistant when sealed. Very few knots. Dense wood so carves precisely. |
| Canadian Eastern Maple |  |
Best for indoor use. Smooth, clean appearance with very few knots. Some relatively minor colour variation. Dense wood so carves precisely. |
- Distressed Finish (Optional): We can gently weather the sign to give it the look of a season on the mountain.

| Knotty Alder |  |
Best for indoor use. Warm, sandy tone with subtle grain and occasional small knots. Medium-density wood that carves cleanly with good detail. Only available in narrower 4–5" boards; larger signs require laminated (glued) panels. |
| BC Douglas Fir |  |
Great for outdoor use although expect cracks/splits/knots much as you would see in a timber frame cabin. A softer wood much like pine which carves easily if less precisely compared to the dense hardwoods. |
